fiber-licious weekend!

got a little dyeing and felting and spinning done this weekend...yippee!
first, i made some felt for a coat for Annika. its merino, kid mohair curls, and glitz sparkle nuno felted onto some sheer silk. the top photo shows (clockwise from the top center) the fabric before felting, the fabric after felting, and the wool felt. its basically wool felted into silk with gives the silk that lovely crinkle effect.

and here is a closeup of just the nuno felt piece when finished:

and then there was some overdyeing action....i didn't like the bright green of this clapotis knitted ages ago...so, into the pot it went. per-fee!! much better now!

and then there is the stripe yarn that i made (um again, ages ago). i knitted a long strip on my knitting machine, painted on stripes and set the dye. it was too turquoisey so it took a dip in the pot as well. interestingly it didn't dye all the way down into the stitches...so it has this funky dapple effect. see:

and lastly, i did a little spinning from a batt i carded up (yep, ages ago). its merino, cottswold curls, angora fluff, llama, firestar, a spot of yak down, and some orange wool top:
